ATTACK ON THE NATION

There is a conscious effort on the part of the opposition parties and their media agents to portray the country in a very bad light to come back to power at any cost.  For this purpose the parties and their media partners, award wapsi gang, Bollywood stars, many fringe elements, so called intelligentsia seem to be working overtime to do anything to topple the present administration and see that it does not come back to power.  The deep pockets of the GOP and some of the regional satraps help in their quest for power.  They don't even seem to give a penny's thought for the nation and its pride in the comity of the nations.

The bomb blast in a crowded mosque was termed as Hindu Terror and after a painful long years the court acquitted those held on charges of the same.  The term was coined by none other than the Hindu ministers in the then government.  This was done by the ministers to please the powers that be and misdirect the investigation. A serving army officer in the intelligence wing was arrested and incarcerated on trumped up charges.  The then prince in waiting of the GOP in a chat with the Ambassador of USA referred to this saying that the Hindu extremists were a bigger threat to the nation than the terrorists from across the border.

This endeavour started immediately after the present administration was sworn in May 2014 and the relentless campaign in one form or other is being carried out.  There was a alleged attack on church in the capital by the HIndus owing allegiance to the ruling clique. Later on investigation it turned out that some frustrated parishoners were responsible for the attack.  Then there was the case of a person getting killed for beef.  The Akhlaq case made international headlines and made the country a bad boy as for the communal relations are concerned.  The media and its proxy beneficiaries, the political bosses, were relentless in their attack on the government.  On investigation it turned out that it was a case of a cattle thief who was trying to hustle a calf from a neighbour's house.

Recently the news of a rape and murder of a child in some interior part of Jammu made such headlines across the country, that even the Guardian made a reference to it with a headline that in India cows are safer than girl children.  Whether the child was raped and murdered or just murdered is not the question. Whether she belonged to one religion or other also is not the question. A child of around 8 years was murdered is all the more gruesome and deserves whole hearted condemnation from one and all. But the entire country was made to feel divided on this issue and communally polarised. Instead of condemning the murder (irrespective of  it was rape and murder or murder alone) of a child, the narrative was built around finding a political colour to the death of the child.

The IT wing of some of the parties went a step further by feeding morphed pictures of persons in airports wearing T shirts displaying messages warning the females from travelling to India. The frenzy went to such an extent that the shrill from different parties demanding an answer from the central government overlooking the fact that the Law and Order is a state subject and the state government was already working on it since the death of the child in January this year.  Why it took almost three months to make it to the national headlines in media?  Who or what made the state government in changing the investigation set up midway? are some of the questions that will never be answered truthfully.

Among 122 countries records researched and published by Wikipedia, India was at 51 with 1.8 rapes for 100,000 population (data 2010).  The top 10 countries include some of the well developed ones viz. South Africa, Sweden, England, Australia Belgium etc.  USA with 27.3 per 100,000 population was at eleventh position.  Pakistan was at the 9th position with 28 per 100,000 population.  Surprisingly the data for 2017, though not collated by the Wikipedia, but in another website, India is ranked at 5th position ahead of all countries which are having a higher rate of violence against women.  USA does not figure in this list at all.  Assuming that there is a ten fold increase in the period between 2010 and 2017, still the figure for India in 2017 will not be higher than that of Pakistan and USA for 2010.

This is the result of high decibel rants in the media ably supported by the opposition parties both in main stream media and in social media.  The main aim of the opposition parties seems to be discredit the ruling dispensation and the elected Prime Minister. In the process what they achieve is discredit the nation in the international community, which seems to be the last thing in the minds of the leaders of those parties and the media houses.  The students in England were reportedly peeved in not allowing to attend the public meeting of the PM with the Indian diaspora as they were planning to question him on the rape and murder of children in India.  The extent to which the fake news and angry chants reach on the worked up frenzy in the media and the streets is evident from the above and the reports in many international media.

It is a sad development that the leaders in the present opposition parties are not able to digest the fact that a common man has become a Prime Minister and the leaders of GOP are not able to play the game that they played with many governments in the past when the GOP was in opposition.  For getting back at the man in the helm of affairs in the country presently, the leaders of the opposition are going to any extent including trashing the country in the international arena, which is a sad reality.
